Visiting Gainsborough Old Hall

Wonderful to visit the truly remarkable Gainsborough Old Hall this week. A real piece of our history, dating back to the late 1460s.
This is the very place where King Canute is said to have tried to hold back the sea, reminding us just how deep and fascinating our heritage is here in Lincolnshire. From the stunning Old Hall itself to the impressive medieval kitchen or its connection to the Mayflower trail it’s a real step back in time.
Gainsborough Old Hall plays an important role in supporting the local community, and it’s fantastic that schools can book educational trips to help bring history to life for young people.
The site is cared for by English Heritage , an independent charity that does such valuable work protecting and sharing our national heritage.
If you haven’t visited yet, it’s well worth a trip and #VisitLincolnshire
