I am proud to have passed my first budget for the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. This is a clear plan focused on jobs, skills, infrastructure and opportunity for our towns, villages and rural communities.
This budget moves us from planning into delivery, using our new powers and investment to bring real change across our county.
𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀
We have secured £20 million to transform adult skills through employer led training and bootcamps, launched plans for a Mayoral Digital Academy, and are developing proposals for a new Trades, Advanced Manufacturing and AI Coding College. We are also introducing a new “Gold Standard” literacy programme to help people gain the basic skills needed to access work and opportunity.
𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
With £53 million in additional growth funding, we are supporting innovation, advanced manufacturing, defence, agri tech and seafood industries. New initiatives such as the Mayor’s Business Guild and proposals for an Inventors’ Fund will help local businesses grow and keep world leading ideas here in Lincolnshire.
𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀
We are bringing forward a Farming Industry Technology and Innovation Programme to help farmers access new technology, improve productivity and strengthen food security.
𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
We have secured more than £130 million for transport improvements, including £76 million for highways maintenance, new road upgrades, safer junctions, better walking and cycling routes, and plans for new transport hubs and an integrated travel app. Rural areas will no longer be an afterthought.
𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
We are progressing plans for a Veterans’ Village, introducing Veterans and Care Leavers Bus Cards, exploring a new town for Greater Lincolnshire, and developing a collaborative strategy to tackle homelessness.
𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
We have funded the East Midlands’ first Institute of Dental and Oral Health to train new professionals and help tackle long waiting times for dental care.
I have also ensured we avoided introducing a mayoral precept while strengthening in person working across the authority so we can deliver better services for residents.
This is about putting Lincolnshire first by backing our industries, supporting our communities and making sure rural and coastal areas finally get the investment they deserve.
The wheel is turning for Greater Lincolnshire and this is only the beginning.
