Andrea Jenkyns: Standing Up for Fairness in Women’s Sport

I recently had the privilege of speaking with Jo, a championship-level pool player who has represented England internationally and even served as team captain. What she revealed to me was both shocking and deeply concerning.

For over 20 years, biological males have been competing in women’s pool at the highest level. That means female players—who train, dedicate their lives to their sport, and expect a fair competition—have been forced to compete against opponents with an undeniable biological advantage.

Jo herself has now taken legal action alongside four other female players to challenge the governing body that has allowed this to happen. Her fight isn’t just about her own career—it’s about fairness, integrity, and the protection of women’s sport.

Why This Matters

This isn’t just about one sport. We’ve seen similar issues in swimming, cycling, weightlifting, and beyond. Across the board, female athletes are speaking out against policies that erase women’s competitive categories and put them at an unfair disadvantage.

I stand with Jo and all female athletes fighting for their right to fair competition.

Women’s Sport Must Be Protected

Let’s be clear—people can live their lives however they choose, and adults should be free to make their own decisions. But that doesn’t mean we should allow policies that undermine women’s sport and put female athletes at a systemic disadvantage.

There are two biological sexes, and sporting categories exist for a reason. If we allow self-identification to override reality, we erase the very thing that makes women’s sport possible in the first place.

My Commitment

If elected Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, I will:

Back female athletes fighting for fairness in their sport.✅ Oppose policies that allow biological males to compete in women’s categories.✅ Push for stronger protections for women’s sport at every level—local, national, and international.

Women should not have to fight for their own spaces, their own records, and their own chances at success. Yet here we are. It’s time to stand up and say enough.

Jo, you have my full support—and I know you have the backing of thousands of women across the country who refuse to be silenced.

Protect Women’s Sport. Protect Fairness.

If you agree, share this post and make your voice heard. Women's sport deserves defending.
